When the .NET gTLD was first set up in 1985, together with the first domains on the World Wide Web, it was planned to be used by Internet Service Providers or infrastructure companies. Taking into account that there were no specific regulations about the usage of the TLD, though, .NET domains were secured and used for diverse purposes and by lots of people. This extension is a good alternative to dot COM, notably if the necessary domain with the latter TLD is not available for registration.

You can get such a domain for a period between one and ten years, or, if you already own a domain, you can transfer it to our firm and we will renew it as soon as the transfer process is finished. Transfers are available for all domain names, which are at least sixty days old, given that they are not locked and that you have taken an EPP transfer code – security measures set up by the .NET Registry to prevent unauthorized transfers. You can easily edit the WHOIS contact info of the domain through your Control Panel tool, or, if you don't wish this info to be public at all, you can add a Whois Privacy Protection service, so nobody will be able to obtain your real contact details.
