An Operating System is the software which communicates with the hardware of a PC and functions as the intermediary between apps and the hardware, which includes peripheral devices such as a printer, a computer mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transmits requests to the OS through an API (Application Program Interface) and the communication is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Identical to a personal computer, hosting servers also have an Operating System which functions as a host for the software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and many others. A virtual machine can be generated on a physical one, so you'll be able to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast with the physical server host Operating System.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server packages come with three Linux distributions that you may select from for the Operating System of your new server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being free, the OSs are very stable and secure and the primary reason to offer all 3 of them is to ensure that you will be able to run any application that you'd like, as different pieces of software may have different requirements about the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is backed by a large community of web developers who have generated many hundreds of software packages which you can install and use on your VPS. In accordance with the Operating System which you pick, you will also be able to choose between 3 different Control Panels to handle your web hosting content. Also, should you decide that you need another OS, we could always reinstall the server with it. As an optional upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the OS for max stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server packages that we offer come with as many as three different Operating Systems to pick from. They are all Linux release - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license taxes, but they’re also known as the most stable and safe OSs. We provide three different ones because each one of them is backed by a different community. The packages that you could add on your web server are different and this may matter if you need to install some piece of software with particular requirements about the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the Operating System that you'll select. You can pick any of the three Operating Systems during the order procedure, yet if needed, we can always set up the server once again with a different one upon your request. As an additional service that you may add to the package whenever you want, we can update the OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as secure as possible.
